Cheryl’s Homemade Dog Food
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of Organic Brown Rice (Sometimes I add Quinoa)
- 1 Heaping Tbsp. Coconut Oil
- Any Kind of Stock (Homemade is best. I just made a turkey so I will use some of those drippings. If u want to use water only, that’s fine too.)
- Any type of Herbs (I grow a lot in the Summer, so I just pick, chop, and add.)
- 1 lb. of Ground Beef or Ground Turkey (Or any lean and healthy left overs in the fridge.)
- 2 Types of Vegetables such as Shredded Carrots, Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Cabbage, Green Beans, Cauliflower, etc… (I use what Sidney likes… She is a picky eater. If I don’t cut up the green beans, she picks them out… Ugh! And Easton is a hungry hippo… She eats anything!)
Instructions:
1) Mix the rice/quinoa, coconut oil, stock, and herbs together.
2) Cook that mix in a rice maker.
3) Begin cooking the ground meat in a frying pan over low to medium heat.
4) Mix the vegetables in with the meat, and finish cooking.
5) Combine the rice mix with the meat & vegetable mix.
6) Watch your dogs enjoy!
- Refrigerate in a sealed container.
- It lasts up to 5 days.
- We feed them twice a day: Sidney, our Siberian Husky, – 1 cup and Easton, our Jack Russell – 3/4 cup
- In the winter I heat it up for about a minute in the microwave for them… Everyone likes a warm meal in the wintertime, Hehe!
- Sometimes I cook an egg over easy and put on top. They love it!!!
- Or when I run out of ingredients and don’t have time to make this, I’ll cook scrambled eggs for them.
When Easton was eating regular store-bought dog food, she felt tired and Sluggish. But, when I switched to homemade food, she started running around like a puppy. She going on 14. ?
